Here’s a San Diego Comicon spoiler for ya: John Woo will be directing a film adaptation of the comic, “Caliber.” The Arthurian legend recast as a western is being turned into a film by Radical Comics, Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil and Woo’s Lion Rock. Production on “Caliber” may be delayed for a while as Woo is currently putting the final touches on part two of “Red Cliff” and is attached to a number of projects including “1949,” “The Sicilian Clan” and “The Divide.”
I’ve been reading “Caliber” since it came out and, while I love the premise, have yet to have my socks blown off. The art is gorgeous, but the pacing leaves me wanting for the moment. That said, I’d love to see a movie of it. We have yet to see John Woo direct an American western, which I think would be an interesting use of his talents, and it’s probably the best shot we have of seeing a good fantasy western until someone decides to adapt Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” into a film.

Writer/director/actor Justin Theroux is reportedly in final talks to pen the next installment of Marvel Sudios’ summer blockbuster, “Iron Man.” Theroux is a familiar face to fans of “Six Feet Under,” or maybe as Timothy Bryce in “American Psycho,” however he has worked behind the camera as the director of last year’s “Dedication,” and wrote Downey Jr’s other summer release for this year, “Tropic Thunder.”
There you have it folks. If you want to know what to expect from the next “Iron Man” movie, check out “Tropic Thunder” next month. Jon Favreau is also in final talks with the studio, so the direction and acting shouldn’t change. Writing is the only x-factor we have to consider. Personally I think “Tropic Thunder” looks entertaining, though a little corny. What do you think?
