Robert Carlyle as Dr Who?

Robert Carlyle (”28 Weeks Later”) is reportedly in talks to replace David Tennant as Dr Who. Tennant has not yet announced his departure from the series, however Carlyle has indicated enthusiasm for taking over the role in interviews.

What a great casting! Carlyle is already sort of a cult favorite among sci fi fans. As disappointing as it would be to see Tennant leave, I’d really like to see what Carlyle will do with the character. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but imagine Begbie from “Trainspotting” as Dr Who.
