David Silverman, who directed last year’s “The Simpsons Movie,” will be working on a Disney live-action family science fiction comedy called “Pet.” Producers include Scott Rudin and Mark Roybal (”No Country For Old Men”), as well as Craig Perry (”Cats & Dogs”) and Sheila Hanahan Taylor (”Final Destination 3″). The film is about an average human who is taken in as a pet to a group of aliens. Silverman has directed high profile animated features like “The Road to El Dorado” and “Monsters, Inc.” however this is his first live-action feature.
I like this concept, and while it’s always a little iffy with an animation director’s first live-action film, Disney has produced the occasional decent scifi comedy, like “RocketMan.” Yeah, I admit it, I’m the guy who likes that movie. I also liked “My Favorite Martian.” There, I said it. Let’s move on.
