Fox has renewed “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” for a second season. The show averaged 10.5 million viewers per episode in its first season, making it the most successful new scripted series among adults aged 18-49. Fox has ordered the 13 episodes for the next season, which says that they are still being cautious with the “Terminator” franchise spin-off.
Fox isn’t out of the doghouse yet, but I’d say renewing “Terminator” is a goodwill gesture toward the “Firefly” fans who felt jilted a few years back. The fact that the audience is largely adult says to me that there is a lot of crossover between fans of the two shows. ”Terminator” has a lot of promise, and you could tell watching the first season that the creators were very concerned that they may not get renewed. Second seasons mean all bets are off. I just hope the ratings hold and we don’t end up with another “Jericho.”
