Sounds… epic and, possibly, gassy. But I have hope for this movie and certainly Ender’s Game, too, which Petersen is in pre-production on now. Why do I have hope for a man who chose to take on Troy and Poseidon? Because the man directed the classic Enemy Mine, yo. Enemy Mine*. *I want to be clear that I’m neither being sarcastic, nor facetious. In earnestness, this movie tore-up my wee child heart. Tore it in two. (via Variety)

Wolfgang Petersen has signed on to direct a yet-to-be-written science fiction thriller by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond, K-PAX), called Uprising. All that’s know about the movie is it will follow a resistance movement on Earth after an alien invasion.

OH EM GEE I LOVE ENEMY MINE! When I was a teenager it was on t.v. and we started watching and my dad was all “What? You’ve never seen this movie? This is an awesome movie!” and we watched it together and it’s one of those bonding-moment-memories. I totally cried when the alien died and that is probably my favorite Dennis Quaid movie of all times. I want to watch it again right now just remembering it…
This, Miss Mary, is why we are friends. Well, of one of many reasons I guess…Enemy Mine. Geez we’re geeks.
