C.J. Cherryh’s website may be from the dark (and ugly) ages of the Internet, byt there’s a lot of good stuff buried in it. In particular, her list of suggested reading for those new to the genre. Her list includes work from the Golden and Silver ages of cci-fi and also historical stuff like Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. Meanwhile, if you’re unfamiliar with Cherryh, her website probably isn’t the best place to start. Try her novel of political intrigue, Cyteen. I am more of a fantasy reader than a sci-fi reader, but this is one of my favorite books of all time, and it’s heavy on science and space.
