Apparently writing for children is a miserable task that writers of sci-fi, fantasy only take on to make money. And, of course it’s all Harry Potter’s fault. Or so says the New York Times, in this rather irksome piece from Dave Itzkoff. The piece has provoked a fair amount of rage from writers and readers alike. Many adult readers of SF/F say that the genre was a lifeline for them as children, but apparently, those books didn’t mean anything. Excuse me while I retreat to a corner and growl softly.
