The Guardian UK Books Blog has a piece on the women increasingly dominating the fantasy genre including Cathrynne M. Valente, Theodora Goss, Cat Rambo, Ekaterina Sedia and Ezerbet YellowBoy. It’s a great piece, although I’m not sure I agree with their opening premise that the fantasy genre was once perceived as being for men and male dominated. Women have long been the creators of culture myth, why anyone expects that to differ in the modern world of the storytelling industry, I’m not sure. Anyway, go read it, and then go read the books mentioned.
