And I thought I was excited for Jerry Springer: The Opera, to finally make it to the states. The Los Angeles Opera is going to produce an operatic version of The Fly. Yes, that movie with Jeff Goldblum and his unfortunately and totally disgusting transformation into a giant man-insect hybrid thing. With music by Howard Shore, libretto from David Henry Hwang, designed by Dante Ferretti, conducted by Placido Domingo and directed by David Cronenberg, The Fly promises to further confuse people’s often absurd arguments about high- and low-culture and the world of SF/F.
