Gotham Knight: Between Batman Begins and Dark Knight

Six Batman stories will be produced in anime and released on DVD. Each story will be incredibly different in terms of style and narrative technique—or, at least, that’s the goal with the project (rather like the Animatrix DVD was to the Matrix series).

Producer Bruce Trimm and other honchos talk about the project in Gotham Knight: First Look, an approximately ten minute preview of the project that is available online. The preview is grade A because not only do you see a heap of beautifully realized segments and character sketches from the stories, you also see those while the incredibly clever people involved in the project talk about how anime visuals and storytelling inform the Batman character. It’s dang insightful.
