- Stephen King serves as a pop columnist for Entertainment Weekly and his top films of 2007 have been posted. 28 Weeks Later and Children of Men make the cut in a list that’s mainly populated by pretty serious dramas. He also has a short list of his picks for the best TV shows and there’s no surprise here that he put up Lost and Battlestar Galactica.

Ok, how come sci fi movies only come from three sources: t.v. shows, sequels, and book (comic book) adaptations? I liked Twilight, don’t get me wrong, the whole series had this warm nostalgic feeling, bringing me back to my wayward pre-teen days when I devoured everything by L.J. Smith, leading up to the awesomeness of Buffy. Except for Moonlight, vampires have always been chic. But why can’t Hollywood spin out an original sci-fi/fantasy movie? Grow some balls people. You don’t HAVE to have a built-in cult base to make a SF/fantasy movie successful. See: Sixth Sense.
