Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, is up for the role of Black Adam in a proposed “Shazam” film. When initial discussion began, The Rock issued a statement via the Internet asking if the fans thought he should pursue the role of the hero, Captain Marvel, or nemesis, Black Adam. Since the Internet is a hotbed of brilliant comic fans, a resounding “Black Adam” was transmitted across servers everywhere. This is an excellent casting call. The Rock has, obviously, the physique to pull this off, not to mention that Black Adam is Egyptian and the Rock has already had one turn in Egyptian mythology in ”The Scorpion King.” Hopefully they won’t try to dig too deeply into Adam’s history and depict his tragic life and shoot a bunch of scenes where the Rock has to emote. If they just writehim as a strong, angry badass, this movie could actually be entertaining.
