Philcon, a con put on by the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society, held its 2007 event this past weekend. Even terrible weather and crazy traffic created by the Philadelphia Marathon couldn’t keep con goers away from an event that featured Eric Flint (Writer Guest of Honor), Sue Dawe (Artist Guest of Honor — if you know of a current website for her, please let me know!), Kevin Roche and Andrew Trembly (Costume Guests of Honor — something I wish more cons would have! And if someone knows of a link for Andrew, please let me know) and a concert from Voltaire (two if you count the impromptu hallway concert he gave to about twenty fans as the con was wrapping up on Sunday), as well as a number of great panels including the hillarious Bad Anime, Bad! that featured the worst and most inexplicable of the genre, a unique presentation on the sci-fi and fantasy elements in Gilbert and Sullivan and a debate-filled Harry Potter wrap-up panel.
Philcon 2008 has neither dates nor a hotel yet, but is already in the planning stages. News as we know it!
