I tend to refrain from investing to much excitement or annoyance in conceptual or developmental rough sketches for movies. I mean, they can look severely loopy and end up having very little similarity to the creatures on film. As an artist, I understand that you have to visually work through ideas and often times clunkers land square on your paper. So I feel for development artists and I quiet any visceral reactions to their early work. In any case, I think my withholding judgement policy will definitely remain in effect for the supposedly leaked developmental images from James Cameron’s Avatar project. Avatar is 18 months away but Merrick of Ain’t It Cool News fame nosed out the alien concept image from britfilms.tv, who in turn got it from marketsaw. But I don’t know– what do you think?
