Now that the first few pictures of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles have come out in Entertainment Weekly, my general opinion is that the posters actually don’t do justice to the show itself. The one that most bothers me is the one with Summer Glau’s face on an endoskeleton body. It’s eye catching, certainly, but weirdly reminds me of Sonny from I, Robot, and the one featuring Glau’s upper torso makes me think of Stepford Wives. Which is a shame, because I was lucky enough to see an early version of it a few months ago, and as much as I resisted liking it (just to understand where I’m coming from - James Cameron really is King of the World and Terminator 3 never happened), it’s actually pretty interesting. They disregard T-3 [always a good thing in my book] and they pay homage to the original movies. I was quite giddy to find out that Summer Glau’s character is named Cameron, and without giving too much away, the creators replicate a location in T-2 which is almost exactly how I remembered it in the movie, so kudos for that! Sure, a part of me has a problem with the fact that nobody, either in Sarah Connor Chronicles or T-3, has gotten that John was supposed to be ten in T-2, like the computer in the cop car said, but I know that’s nitpicking. Ultimately the show goes in a whole new direction and while it’s obviously going to take some time to accept Lena Headey as Sarah, I think she could be more than up to the task. In the mean time I shall anxiously await the premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in January on Fox.
