“The Simpsons Game” looks pretty sweet, according to this review I found. It’s a traditional platformer where you navigate your way through several classic episodes filled with extras and in-jokes, including cameos by Matt Groening and all the show’s original cast members. Each level has at least two characters, usually chosen by the confines of the story, and you can switch back and forth between the two to achieve objectives or play cooperatively with a friend.
This is the 22nd game in the Simpsons franchise, and apparently they learned the lesson taught by “Simpsons: Hit and Run,” that players want to navigate sprawling environments peppered with jokes and references to classic episodes. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. While reviewers give it some flack for being a little brief and having poor co-op construction, I think games like this deserve a place in the market. They’re perfect for playing with kids and girlfriends, and sometimes you need to play something that isn’t going to take up a month of your life.
